The imagery, biblical representations, the sadness, the love…”there was a flood, a world of water, the preacher’s wife swam for her daughter. 1000 people did what they could, they found a steeple, tore up the wood. 500 pieces means 500 float, 1000 people means 500 don’t”..that line specifically: a horrible flood is running through the town, the people go to the church, but not to pray, rather to use the wood to float. brilliant.
