Kentucky Season Recap
Only five teams in the SEC, at least the fourth straight trip to a bowl this season, and Kentucky (7.5 3.5) is one of them. The other four in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU. Some very good company there Wildcats, yes?
This was another solid season for the rich, Brooks & Co., but could be much better if the ball has been struck in Kentucky, land at the end of regulation against Tennessee. The Wildcats were able and willing to work overtime to beat that – again.
Kentucky has 25 consecutive games at Tennessee, a long strip of loss of assets in the country in which the team has lost each year.
However, there has been much good news Bluegrass this season, especially in the historic victory over Auburn and Georgia. It was the first time in 43 years that the Wildcats have won at Auburn, and the first time in 32 years it has won in Georgia.
Throwing football was a fight to the end of the season after a freshman true Morgan Newton took over for the injured Mike Hartline at quarterback. The Wildcats were slightly injured during the season, the player’s most important consideration. In Hartline, a star corner back Trevard Lindley has missed four games with the stretching of the ankle.
Offensive MVP: Randall Cobb, QB / WR. It was simply the most versatile player in the league, scored hit running, can receive and then Punt. Cobb 15 touchdowns have come with him to play defender in the Wildcat formation, and have also aligned at wide receiver and returning kickoffs and glasses. It is more than 300 yards in four categories.
Outstanding Defensive Player: Sam Maxwell, LB. Defensive solve Corey Peters has been a great senior season, but Maxwell gets the contract based on its versatility. He helped the team with 80 seconds, including the loss of over 5.5, and forced the command line, six interceptions and two fumbles.
Turning Point: Wildcats looked like they were in difficulty, items in a game at Auburn October 17. They have lost three in a row and fourth consecutive bowl appearance was like he could slip. But Cobb was great, and winning the Kentucky defense held Auburn has not scored in the second half at 21-14, which changed the skin of the season, the Wildcats.
