@barboro1 EVERY horse is powered by WILL. These horses LOVE to run, if they didn’t, they WOULDN’T, it’s a mere human against a 1200 pound ANIMAL. Who do you think is stronger? And oh, those whips are actually being redesigned to be less damaging. Old whips with poppers made of leather caused some horses to get welts. Look at the new poppers, big, fat, long, they spread pressure. I’ve hit my leg very hard with those whips and it doesn’t hurt, so a Thoroughbred won’t have any pain.
the guy in the green is right. if ur scared it will show on the track. what i do is just clear ur mind and have fun. dont think bout wipe out or it just might happen.;[
Two jockeys die a year . . . that’s sad. Two racehorses die a day from injuries sustained while racing, even worse. The sport is dangerous in general, for horses and riders. The horses are what stand between the jockeys and the racetrack, so if they get hurt and go down, then things will get worse. It’s the horses that need protection, for two deaths a day vs two deaths a year . . . what’s worse?
loves how nobody said anything about how many horses died and for the person that said those whips dont hurt your full of it let me it you with one and tell me how you like it the jockeys have a choice to race the horses dont
i just love how they say how many jokeys get hurt but nobody gives a hoot about how many horses die when they didnt have a choice to race or not jockeys have a choice to go out on the race tracks horses dont if a jockey gets hurt its there own fault if a horse gets hurt its the person that made if run i used to want to be a jockey until i realize they raced the horses way to young and how many horses died from it but nobody seems to care about the horses
Thank u for showin others that what we do is very dangerous. I dont race nemore due 2 getting prego. i stated racin at age 12. I only raced ponies but it was competative racin. I was moved to actual thoroughbreds at age 14. I stop when I was 18. in those few years of racing I have broken my wrist, 4 vertabre in my back, two vertabre in my neck, smashed my pelvis, fractured my skull, n broke every rib all before i turned 16. i wouldn’t trade those years 4 anything. I’m tryin 2 get back into it.
Great video, I have a newfound respect for jockeys. I knew what they did was hard and dangerous but this vid gave me a whole new perspective. Well done.
horse racing. Its no different than a pitcher in baseball getting nailed in the face by a batter’s swing or a boxer getting the crap beat out of him because a match went to far. We accept these risks. Horse racing is no different. It poses no greater risk of danger than any other equine-related sport. These animals are beautiful. And it kills me to see them get injured just as much as it does anybody else. If there was a sure fire way of preventing an accident from occuring, no doubt would use
world. Theres nothing we can do to stop it. Jockies know that every time they put their foot into that stirrup and get into that starting gate that there is a possibility of them getting injured or even killed. They accept that fact and deal with it. Owners and trainers know that everytime their horse steps onto the track for their race that their is a possiblity of their horse breaking down and getting injured or killed. But they accept it because its part of the risks that come with
than the jockies. When I see people call this sport cruelty, although I do see where they’re coming from when they say that, I cant help but think that they simply just dont know the facts. Is it a dangerous sport? Yes, but what sport doesnt pose one form or another of danger? Do people and animals die in this sport? Yes, just like they do in show jumping, cross country, and just about any other equine related sport. But is it cruelty and abuse? Not necessarily. Accidents happen in the sports
What Im about to say I just want people to hear me out. I’m not pointing fingers or calling names. Every sport has its risks and dangers. We accept that. Horse racing is no different. It has its dangers just like every other sport in the world. These horses are carefully bred for this sport, possessing the qualities that make and adapt it for this sport. To be perfectly honest, the horses are usually treated better than the jockies are and recieve better treatment (hospitality wise)
Like he said ” A beautifull animal ” , why do they wanna kill or hurt this beautifull animal ?! The horse should not be whipped as much as long as , It ought to be free but will be ridden at a relaxed pace and not be used in races .. Poor horses , not poor pepole !
jockeys these days have to wear a kevlar vest in australia where i live it is mandatory
i work with race horses i love the animals it is truly exciting i am just learning to ride
and i am loving it i want to be a racehorse trainer i am a stable hand at the moment
it is the best job ever please make one dedicated to all the stablehands and trackwork riders i would love that thanks very good video

What about the women? Can you make a video about them?
@Lhenny4 When they break their legs like that it makes it easier to walk up and shoot them. Then, the French get some nice horsie meat hamburg!
oh my god! The horse at 2:45 has broken his legs!!!
