FRUIT CUSTARD TART RECIPE – SORTED
Recipe request by @ThatGuyParsley, @Fleebub and @gaarasand28. Baking with pastry can be a little time-consuming.. but the end result is well worth it! It’s a skill which is brilliant once you’ve cracked it! This homemade fruit custard tart (although we cheated with the custard!) brings amazing colour and fresh zingy fruity flavours to any spread. Whether it’s afternoon tea in the summer or a centre piece dessert… It will get the wow factor! @MusicMadSuperAwesome So true!
@renoa0heartilly Funny you should say that… sponge cake coming up in a few weeks time for a very special occasion…. stay tuned!
@osteec You can do yeah… I prefer just a dusting of icing sugar before serving it. But if you want to glaze it then do so with some apricot jam, let down with a splash of water and warmed up until you can brush it over the fruit.
can you bake the custard with the pastry?
@sortedfood
Can you do a recipe for traditional bakewell tart? I LOVE bakewell tart
you guys should do like a food heaven and food hell, a la saturday kitchen :]
FUN TIP: To add a lovely shine to your tart, make a glaze to brush on top of the fruit! The simplest way is to melt down some jam or jelly (peach or apricot if you want a clear glaze; strawberry can give it a nice rosy tint), strain out the lumps, and brush it over the fruit. Or, you can make one by heating sugar, fruit juice/water, corn starch in a sauce pan~
let it flop in…. cheeky smile from baz
RED VELVETTTTTTT!!!!
Can’t you just ,instead of cutting the edges of the pastry with the knife once it’s in the tin, roll a rolling pin over the tin to cut off he excess pastry or does it not leave enough pastry around the edges?
