And all of their best matches – Rome 06, Wim 08 and AO 09 – were won by Rafa.
So whos the better player outside of clay? Rafa now is the better player not just on his beloved clay. And thats something swiss´ fans cant swallow. Thats is my point.
@picus11 thing is that fed had nearly all their matches on his own racket. especially rome 06 and AO 09 were lost by roger rather than won by rafa. rafa beats roger because he plays the direct counter tennis to roger and because rafa has the psychgological advantage for leading the h2h right away. which in turn is largely because they barely met out of clay in the very beginning.
so rafa is just a bad matchup for roger, everyone has one. rogers just happens to be the 2nd best player of our time
@erbgorre
OMG ))))))))
3/4 of their first matches were played out of clay (and 5/9 of their first matches were played out of clay)!!!
So what kinda psychgological advantage Rafa had in the very beginning of their matches????
Swiss had to win everyting outside of clay cos according to you hes much better there. LOLLL
What kind of bizarre excuses these guys always find.

@picus11 roger and rafa have played 12 off their 22 matches against each other on clay……off the 14 matchs rafa has won against roger, 10 of them are on clay. roger leads 2-1 on grass and 4-3 on hard courts….
@picus11 how convenient to simply count so far as it proves your own point -.-
yes 3/4 of their initial matches were outside of clay
and after that 9 of the next 13 matches they played till the wimbledon final 08 were on clay and federer won every time they played ona different surface. so by the time they played some of their greatest matches nadal was clearly leading the h2h thx to so many clay court matches and that IS a big advantage going into the next encounters.
@picus11 and even taking that aside the point still remains that rafa is simply a bad matchup for roger. that doesnt make rafa the better tennis player alltogether tho. he has his bad matchups too.
like hes got dismantled by the big hard hitters on the tour on numerous occasions. have you ever seen roger take a rafa-like beating from guys like delpo, tsonga or the likes? no. its all about playstyles
so long as i dont see rafa simply outplay others like roger often does rog is the best player.
rafa is what is he now (9 slam champions) because he’s willing to risk injuries for results
his game is built on power, mentality and retrieving balls back endlessly from impossible positions
if busting your knees, abs, and shoulders a few times a year means you can beat federer, i’d love to do that too
rafa’s a fighter but not a great role model… think about it, would you want your kids to idolize or even imitate a figure who breaks his own body playing a sport?
@foul01 If having such an exciting and strong playing style means having a career thats a few years shorter than what it would be otherwise….I say go for it, burn the candle at both ends! Of course, almost nobody will achieve what Rafa has so, for others, it certainly wouldn’t be worth shortening a career that isn’t as illustrious.
nadals has a chance of breaking federers 16 slams record but the play his style puts alot of stress on his body like sliding on hard court and chasing down everyball down which leads him to inujury’s and the reason why federer achive this kind of record is because he has a much more simple style of play
I love classy federer but I feel like I want to laugh because of this commentator.He says something like this “montaz federer,montaz nadal” but good comment.What ever it is,roger still the greatest player of all time.Love u classy roger..
ROGER THAT!!
@erbgorre By the way, when is Nadal not injured? Injury was never an excuse for Roger Federer. So why should it be one for Nadal?
@erbgorre …or worn out. Now thats the way it is.

rafa is a really gud player no doubt but he has a lot of issues with injuries which unless and untill he cant overcome, he wont be the best……
@Sen1Sky Yes, montez, montez!
