Ameraucana chicken breed and others

For best results, click this link: www.youtube.com This video shows an unusual chicken breed in unusual looks. Most Ameraucanas seen somewhere else are most likely mixed. In this video, they are in their original colors and genes. The black and red ones are Wheatens, while the grey and red ones are Blue Wheatens. The white ones are Ameraucana hens, while the others are other breeds. The white rooster is a splash, which is like a “wild card”.

Wow dude! That is a super nice chicken ranch!
Do you raise them for meat & eggs and to sell?
Great job on the buildings. I would like to build something like that.

Have you kept them inside their coop or hen house for about a week or two?

Do you have some bantams? I thought I heard some crowing, but it may have been some adolestents. I have 2 Ameraucana hens, a Barred Pylmouth Rock-mix hen and a Barred rooster.

Nice construction on the coop. I live with an old coop from the 1700s. Too many termites to start it up again.

    ‘Nice chickens.
It’s a pity there’s no eggs to be seen anywhere.
Don’t they ever lay at all?
Even just in the Spring, like the crows and the robins?

Looks like a happy flock to me! I’m studying today. Always had about 6 hens just for eggs, but my husband and I are considering a small flock for breeding. Love your setup.

They do lay eggs. We probably get nearly a dozen a day from them.

What, you went to the trouble of filming them, and even their empty nest-boxes, but somehow were unable or unwilling to show even a single egg?
Then you say thay lay a dozen a day!
No hen lays more than 1 egg a day (unless you mean that you get 12 eggs from 100 chickens…).
Why could you not film even one of these alleged dozen eggs?
    Are they too ugly?
    Did you hide them?
Or do they not lay on film-shoot days?
    I’m just curious…
Anyway, keep up the good filming.
    Best wishes.
    Dee Flee.

My father highly recommends having about three or more hens. If you look at the video closer, you’ll see that the hen house that I released the chickens out of have one rooster and ten hens (eight if you only count the Ameraucanas). Speaking of the full moon, I heard Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News that “Friday’s full moon was the biggest one of the year, with Earth’s natural satellite reaching its closest point to our planet.”

You have a lovely farm and obviously are fastidious about the care and cleanliness of your animals. Amazing job! Thank you for sharing this bit of Ameraucauna :-)

We keep them inside for about a week or two, then let them loose with a fence arount it. We also use some cows to repel some air predators.

what is the purpose of having those roosters all alone in the cage? Are they really agressive?
